Calculate your cumulative GPA by adding courses with letter grades and credit hours
This GPA calculator helps students compute their cumulative grade point average using letter grades and credit hours. It supports the standard 4.0 scale with plus/minus grading (A through F) and calculates total quality points, total credits attempted, and per-course contributions to your GPA.
Whether you're a high school student tracking your semester grades or a college student planning your academic path, this tool provides an accurate picture of where you stand.
GPA is calculated by dividing total quality points by total credit hours. Each letter grade has a numeric value (A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, etc.) that is multiplied by the course's credit hours to get quality points. Sum all quality points and divide by total credits.
An unweighted GPA uses a standard 4.0 scale regardless of course difficulty. A weighted GPA gives extra value for honors, AP, or IB courses (up to 5.0). This calculator computes an unweighted GPA. For weighted calculations, use our High School GPA Calculator.
